My scrappy week

Ha ha!! Scrappy as in lots of scrapbooking going on (not crappy).

Still doing pretty good with my layout a day challenge. I've scrapped every night this week even if I didn't blog them separately. I'll be showing you my pages below, but I wanted to say a few things about scrapbooking first.

I got "the comment" the other day from my sister about how I must have lots of free time to scrapbook and how she's too busy to do it (even though she used to love it!) She didn't mean it in a derogatory way, I think she meant it more of a "how do you have time?" kinda way. I have a full-time job, as I am self-employed; 3 kids and a husband; never ending loads of laundry; and a house to keep up. But I can find the time to scrapbook (and use untold amounts of time on the computer - Facebook & Twitter & blogs) because I make time. Once the kids are in bed (around 8:30-9:00) I come into my scrap room and surf the internet for a while. Then I grab a photo or two and look through Evernote for some layout ideas.

I've found that I'm a simple scrapper. Very simple. That's okay with me. I like the almost-instant gratification of a quick page that is still fun. I've learned not to stress about making the "perfect" page or using every-single-photo of each event. Sometimes I have a story. Sometimes just a thought. Sometimes just a date. I'm totally okay with all of that. I love scrapbooking because it is a creative outlet for me. I could put all my photos in a photo album and that would be okay, too. And I will have a combination of layouts, mini-books, and photo albums. It's all good.

So what about the laundry and all my other responsibilities? Laundry gets washed. Dishes get done. House gets vacuumed. People get fed. Work gets done. It's all manageable. Everything in its own time. Besides, at 11 pm, what else would I be doing?

So after that long rant, here are my pages:

Another 3 layouts for LOAD

We are now 7 days into our layout a day challenge and I have been keeping up! I've found that if I keep things simple, I can get those photos I love scrapped.

Here's day 5: I used a premade page from an old Creating Keepsakes calendar. All I did was add the photos and a few stickers.

Day 6: Inspired from another beach page that I saved to Evernote. I love this photo of Howie. He looks so grown.

Day 7: I only had one photo from a Father's Day breakfast at daycare. But it's a photo I love. It came together really quickly.

So how are you coming along with your scrapping goals? Every page is one more for your album!!

Thank Kim for your comment on my 100th post.
I don't know how to post the random number generator box, but I put in 1-4 and it choose #3.
Thanks everyone for reading, and thanks to those who posted. Hope you'll keep up with my February layout a day progress.

Inspired by a purse

Originally uploaded by mcscraps4

Day 2 of LOAD was to find inspiration from an item on ebay. When I searched my name, a bunch of purses came up and the third one had colors and pattern that instantly caught my attention.

These photos are obviously from the birth of my third son, almost four years ago. Wow, time goes by so fast!!

Welcome to another round of LOAD - layout a day!

Last May, I joined a month-long scrap challenge with Lain Ehmann and at the end of the month had 31 layouts!! I was very proud of myself and joined again in October. Unfortunately, I didn't complete that month, but I did realize some things about my scrapbooking. I was happy about that because I didn't want to be scrapbooking just for the fun of it. I wanted my layouts to really share a story.

Since then, I've realized that some of my layouts will share a story, some will be for fun. They don't all have to be gems!

So for day 1 of the layout a day challenge for February 2011, I made this simple page. It's one of my favorite photos!
